About Me
Sean Bigler AP, DAcCHM
Acupuncture Physician & Doctor of Acupuncture
Hello there! My name is Sean Bigler and I am the owner & proprietor of Bigler Wellness Acupuncture. I have been Nationally Board-Certified in Acupuncture (NCBAHM Diplomate #847889) since 2025. I am also a Florida-licensed Acupuncture Physician (AP 4659) and am required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of approved continuing education every two years.
In 2026 I was awarded a Doctorate of Acupuncture degree from Pacific College of Health & Science (PCHS) and in January, 2027 I will complete the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification (SMAC) program. I am also certified in Dry Needling (Myofascial trigger point therapy), and Acupoint Injection Therapy (AIT). I have also completed training in The EXSTORE™ Orthopedic System and Richard Hazel’s Functional Acupuncture coursework.
I am passionate about learning about the body’s musculoskeletal movement, imbalances and rehabilitation from a functional perspective. My practice (and future training) is greatly influenced by the work of Dr. Vladimir Janda, the renowned physiotherapist and neurologist. His pioneering research on movement patterns, postural alignment, muscle imbalances and their interaction with the nervous system continue to influence modern physical therapy.
As an acupuncturist, I use the healing power of direct muscle stimulation and electric frequencies while applying Dr. Janda’s functional assessment techniques. I use postural assessment, walking gait analysis, manual/range of motion muscle testing and palpation to formulate a personalized care plan for every patient.
Before pursuing orthopedic acupuncture, I was a professional musician, composer and recording studio engineer. I formed a band with my wife Bonnie and we released 4 albums, including a rock opera: Spotify. In 2013, I became very sick with Lyme’s disease. The process of healing changed the course of my life and opened my heart with compassion for others experiencing health challenges. I went back to school in 2015, starting with pre-med classes at my local community college. Today, my compassion and empathy extends to all those experiencing musculoskeletal pain and the suffering it causes.
I live in Gainesville Florida with my wife Bonnie. My other passion is growing and tending to subtropical fruit trees, both in our orchard and two greenhouses. The parallels between “fruticulture” (growing and managing fruit trees) and patient care continue to astound me! I foster growth by providing the right environment, nourishment, adjustment and individualized attention…whether a person or a tree is before me.
