Manual Muscle Testing, Range of Motion and Gait Analysis
Using the EXSTORE Orthopedic system and Vladimir Janda’s approach to manual muscle testing, muscles and joints are tested to assess imbalances, tightness-weakness patterns, and, neuromuscular control. Patients are placed in a variety of positions in order to identify muscle length, strength and function. Also crucial for assessment is the gait analysis which determines asymmetries, such as pelvic tilt, knee position, and shoulder height. The results from these assessments lead to a diagnosis and subsequent acupuncture treatment plan.

Electro-Acupuncture Stimulation
Using an electric stimulator device, mild electrical pulses are sent into the body via wires attached to acupuncture needles. Low, medium or high frequencies are selected based on the nature of the injury, the type of tissue affected and whether the muscles are tight/contracted or weak/inhibited. “Electroacupuncture” powerfully relieves pain and stimulates nerves & muscles. These frequencies are used to target muscles, tendons, neuromuscular junctions, ligaments, fascia and even bones.

Motor Point Stimulation
Needles are inserted directly where nerves enter & innervate the muscles. An electronic stimulator is used to trigger muscle contractions (local twitch responses). By electronically stimulating motor points, muscle re-activation occurs for inhibited muscles and tight/inflamed muscles will relax after stimulation. Motor point stimulation increases range of motion, strength, and coordination by correcting muscle imbalances.

Manual Acupuncture
Stainless steel, filiform needles are inserted to balance the peripheral nervous system, the autonomic nervous system and flow of energy (Qi). They may also be inserted into muscular trigger points as well as trigger points in order to release tension and reduce pain.

Dry Needling
Needles are inserted into painful, knotted and irritated muscle “trigger points” in order cause a muscle twitch. Trigger points occur at predictable areas within muscles, usually with referred pain. This action releases the muscle, resolves pain and helps to restore muscle function. Dry Needling of trigger points is often used in conjunction with motor point stimulation, massage and later, physical therapy.

Tui Na Therapeutic Massage
Chinese therapeutic massage balances body meridian pathways. Tui Na is used to address specific musculoskeletal issues along the acupuncture meridian systems of the body. Various hand techniques are used to relieve pain and internal conditions by manipulating muscles, tendons and tissues

Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy is recommended to patients with muscle tension, pain, arthritis or even respiratory issues. Cups are applied to an affected area of the body where a pump is used to create suction, drawing the skin upwards into the cup. This action can help release muscle tension, reduce pain and increase blood flow to the area.

Scalp Acupuncture
Insertion of needles into areas of the scalp which correspond to specific regions of the brain, in order to stimulate neurological functions. Scalp acupuncture is used for a variety of neurological conditions including: post-stroke sensory and motor deficits, mood imbalances, memory and speech impairment

Chinese Herbal Medicine
The creation of complex & personalized formulas containing herbs, minerals and other substances. Herbal formulas are used to treat conditions such as: seasonal colds & flu, digestive issues, menopause and GYN symptoms, pain, infertility, respiratory ailments, low energy and mood issues.
